Aubrey
Sparling,
a High
School
Senior
at
Pendleton
Heights
High
School,
held
an event
she
named, "Pet
Adoption Fair"
which
was
themed
around
an
effort
to
educate
visitors
about
what is
a major,
and
growing
problem,
puppy
mills
which
are
springing
up all
over the
U.S.
About
puppy
mills;
According
to
Animal
World
USA,
“there
are
4,000-5,000
puppy
mills in
the
U.S.,
most of
which
are
located
in the
Midwest.
Approximately
500,000
puppies
per year
are bred
in puppy
mills
with
only
half of
the dogs
bred at
puppy
mills
make it
to the
pet
store;
the
other
half
die.”
