A Healthy Meal Plan
Anderson, Indiana –
Today more and more people, because of a
medical condition, are finding it
necessary to establish a meal plan that
is required in order to maintain a
healthy living style. One of these
conditions is Diabetes. With the recent
advances in medicine and because of new
tests more and more people are found to
have Diabetes. According to the
National Diabetres Education Program,
a total of 1,600,000 new cases of
diabetes were diagnosed in 2007 in the
United States alone. These new cases
were with people who were 20 years of
age and older.
A big part in
maintaining a healthy life style for
those with Diabetes is a ‘Healthy Meal
Plan’, according to Lori Keith, a
registered nurse and certified educator
at
Community Anderson’s Diabetes Care
Center. And a major piece of this
puzzle is being able to understand and
take the mystery out of today’s food
labels.
We met with Lori at
Community Hospital in Anderson to
find out just how one can makes sense of
the labeling found on today’s food
products. Lori unraveled, in a very
short time, the difficult task
experienced by a large majority of
shoppers who are mystified by the
endless food choices at the grocery
store.
