Swimming

Unsafe
Waters
Pendleton,

On
Thursday
afternoon
several
area
kids
were
seen
swimming
in Fall
Creek
below
the dam
in Falls
Park.
This is
a very
dangerous
practice
because
of the
nature
waters
take
below
dams.
These
areas
below
damns
are
called
undertows,
is what
occurs
when the
swirling
waters
coming
off the
dam
cause a
downward
push
which
can pull
even the
best
swimmer
under.
At one
time
swimming
was
allowed
in the
area
below
the dam
in Falls
Park. It
was
banned
many
years
ago to
the
water
hazards
present
in this
area. |
