About
The

Community

Volunteer
to Help
Grow
Food To
Feed A
Community
Pendleton,
Indiana
May 22,
2009 –
It is
gardening
time at
the
Pendleton
Community
Garden
on Water
Street
in
Pendleton,
Indiana.
The
majority
of the
planting
and seeding
have
been
completed
in the
area
that is
going to
be used
as a
donation
to local
food
banks
yet to
be
selected.
There
are a
couple
of
really
neat
things
in the
garden
area you
need to
stop by
a see.
One is
Miss
Peggy’s
Garden.
This is
a
project
she has
with her
kids at
the
Pendleton
Community
Library.
These
kids
have a
real
smorgasbord
of
different
plants
here.
Another
neat
concept
in the
Pendleton
Community
Garden
area is
what is
called a
“Square
Foot
Garden
Project”.
This is
a very
neat
concept
and is
used in
some of
the
larger
cities
or by
people
who have
limited
gardening
space.
It can
also be
used on
a patio
to grow
vegetables
and
flowers.
It has
been
proven
that one
of the
beneficial
projects,
heath
wise, or
hobby
anyone
can
undertake
is
gardening.
On top
of that
gardening
helps to
fill
your
table
with
some of
the
safest
food
that you
will
find
anywhere.
See the
WebMD
article
from
Oct. 30,
2000 to
see how
gardening
can keep
you
young (article).
On top
of that,
with the
cost of
food at
the
grocery
today
there is
an
enormous
saving
to the
family
budget
every
time you
use
things
from
your
garden
on the
table.
What is
needed
now more
than
anything
is a few
more
hands in
the
garden.
So with
that we
are
going to
call
this
paragraph,
“Hands
for
Tyler”.
If you
have a
little
spare
time or
maybe
just
what to
find a
great
escape,
stop by
the
library
and talk
to Tyler
about
volunteering
in this
wonderful
project
they
have
underway. |
