Remembering Fallen Officers

Pendleton, Indiana May 21, 2009 – On Thursday the Indiana State Police honored fellow officers who have died in the line of duty. Joined by the family members of those officers and area law enforcement personal, the names of those 45 officers were read.

The first name read was that of Trooper Eugene Teague. He was following a tip about a Dillinger gang member. A gun battle ensued and Trooper Teague was killed in the crossfire on December 21, 1933.

Forty-five Indiana State Police personnel have been killed in the line of duty since 1933.  Two of those officers, Roy Jones and Robert Garrison, were working out of the Pendleton District when killed.  Trooper Garrison was killed on December 14, 1959.  Trooper Jones was killed on July 3, 1979.
