Before
Thursday
nights
vote on
allowing
out-of-area
students
to
attend
school
in
Pendleton,
Indiana
two
compelling
speakers
gave
their
opinion
as to
why and
why not
the
South
Madison
School
Corporation
should
allowed
these
students
to
attend
school
in
Pendleton,
Indiana
Pendleton,
Indiana/06-04-09
– The
South
Madison
School
Corporation
voted on
an issue
that has
been one
of the
toughest
they
have
faced in
many
years.
That
issue
was
whether
or not
to allow
out-of-district
children
to
attend
the
South
Madison
School
Corporation
here in
Pendleton,
Indiana.
Two of
the most
compelling
speakers
of the
night,
one for
and one
against
allowing
out-of-area
students
to
attend
the
Pendleton
schools,
where
Mr. Joel
Miller
and Mr.
Paul
Wilson.
Mr.
Miller,
until
recently,
had been
a
teacher
at the
Pendleton
Heights
High
School.
His
employment
was
terminated
because
of
declining
enrollment
and a
staggering
budget
deficit
that was
discovered
earlier
this
year.
Mr. Paul
Wilson,
who is a
Madison
County
Commissioner
for the
south
district,
spoke
against
allowing
out-of-area
students
on the
basis
that the
plan was
discriminatory
in that
that the
Pendleton
Public
School
District
was only
allowing
certain
students
to
attend
based on
a
certain
criteria. |
