The Pendleton-Gazette Consumer News
Magazine is a Consumer News publication
located in Pendleton, Indiana.
While some
have suggested that the Pendleton-Gazette
should also have a printed edition it was
decided that it would be an online
publication only. There are several factors
that went into that approach.
The primary
reason is that the growth of the online
community. Not only has the number of people
using computer to find news increased there
has also been a big upswing in online
activity with the introduction of the tablet
and today's Smartphones that put the web in
people's pockets.
Online usage
is going to continue to grow. According to a
recent survey, as of the end of 2010, more
people get their news from the Internet than
from newspapers. In the survey conducted by
the Pew Project for Excellence in
Journalism, 34% of respondents said they
read news online within the past 24 hours
(as opposed to 31% who favored newspapers);
and a full 41% said they get most of their
news online, 10% more than those who said
they got most of their news from a
newspaper.
Today when
people are looking for news from
Pendleton, Indiana and the
surrounding area via a Bing,
Google, or Yahoo search, the
Pendleton-Gazette is listed as one of the
top places they see in their searches.
With today's
every faster internet and cell phone speeds
there is no doubt that online news will be
even more prominent in the years ahead.
