CRAMBERRY SCONESOn Saturday my daughter and I went to visit Cousin
Marlene in Eaton, Ohio. I always enjoy going over to her place and
visiting we always have a good visit and something good to eat. It just
seems that we don’t get to visit as much as we used to, life just keeps
everyone so busy these days. The house smelt so wonderful when we went
in I had to go straight to the kitchen, sure enough she had been busy,
busy, busy. The Scones that she made were absolutely delicious. I ask
her if she would mind if I shared the recipe with you all and she was
happy to. I hope you all enjoy these as much as we did.
CRAMBERRY SCONES
3 & ¼ cups flour
4 teaspoons cream of tartar
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons butter, chilled
1 cup dried cranberries
3 tablespoons sugar
1 cup milk
Mix flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt in a large bowl. Cut in butter
with a pastry blender until the mixture resembles course meal. Add dried
cranberries and sugar. Then mix in enough milk to make a soft dough. Put
dough on a floured surface and kneed gently, just until the dough holds
together. Pat out to a ½ inch thick. Cut out with cookie cutters or the
rim a juice glass. Arrange on a floured baking sheet and dust tops with
flour. Bake in a preheated oven at 425 degrees for about 10 minutes.
Serve hot. ENJOY!!!
