Pendleton, Indiana
- There are many popular stops and destinations for people here
in Pendleton, Indiana but one of the most popular of all is one
of the two Ricker's Markets. Sure, people buy fuel and sacks
there but the main reason they stop in at a Ricker's is for what
is widely known as a "Ricker's Pop. Ever since the first
Ricker's opened in the 1990's Ricker's Pops has been one of the
most popular soft drinks in this part of Indiana. Ricker's
customer's don't say I'm going to Ricker's to get a Coke. They
say I'm going to get a Ricker's Pop.
We contacted the Ricker's home office in Anderson, Indiana to
see what they thought made their "Ricker's Pops" so popular.
According to Ricker's Marketing Manager it's because they keep
everything so clean including pop machines. We agree there
because we have never been in one of the Ricker's Markets that
wasn't spic and span. And he also said that all their the
products are always fresh. It was also hinted that there may be a
trade secret involved too but if there is they wasn't sharing
it.
So what is the fascination with these things everyone calls
"Ricker's Pop"? We went to the Ricker's on State Street here in
Pendleton, Indiana to see if we could find out.
